MI Car Accident - MI Man Dies After Auto Collision Involving 5 Vehicles and a Garage

During the legal career of a Detroit personal injury lawyer, it is common to represent a number of individuals who have sustained severe personal injury or died as the result of a car accident. Often, auto collisions are caused by people who are not paying the utmost attention to the road, or when alcohol is involved. Although the cause is under investigation, tragic car accident occurred on Monday involving several vehicles in Van Buren County.

According to law enforcement officials, Lawtown resident, Everett Painter, 58, was driving a 1995 Saturn Vue when he collided into an EMS ambulance that was traveling westbound in Almena Township in the evening hours of March 8th. After striking the ambulance, Painter continued at a high speed, proceeding to hit three other vehicles. Fortunately, two drivers, including Michelle Smith, 34, did not sustain personal injures in the Michigan car accident. However, one motorist, Jay Oakley, 40, was taken to the local hospital complaining of back and neck injuries.

Police officers reported that following the last impact, Painter’s vehicle rolled numerous times before finally coming to a stop, striking an attached residential garage. Although the residents were in their house at the time of the Michigan car accident, no one inside the home sustained personal injury. Tragically, however, Painter was removed from his vehicle by The Jaws of Life, but died on the scene.

Being involved in a car accident is always a scary experience, and as seen by the example of Everett Painter, can result in severe personal injury or death. Such an incident can leave an injured individual or family members with several questions regarding the next steps to take. For answers, as well as the best legal advice and legal representation, it is important to contact a hard-working and experienced Detroit personal injury attorney as soon as possible.
